✨ Seasons of Push & Pull
💸 Business Needle Movers
☕️ Links + Recommendations
Hey ,
So happy to kick off the week with you! I genuinely look forward to writing these Monday emails and having the chance to share the things that will move your business forward in a meaningful way. 🥰
Before I dive in, I want to just give a quick shoutout to any of you who joined Business By Design + Life By Design. What’s in store will be truly amazing and we can’t wait to see the results you create!
Now, something James and I actually spoke about during our podcast episode was how sometimes we need to pull back to slingshot forward.
It can feel counter-intuitive because there’s SO much noise around hustle culture and working harder to get results… but actually, the moments we’ve had our biggest breakthroughs + quantum leaps have been after pulling back.
I call these seasons of push and pull.
Both are really important along your business journey and can be the thing that propels you toward your goals if you allow it to be.
Seasons of push are typically times you’re focused on achieving an external goal. That could look like launching your new program, getting your business off the ground, or investing in building a team.
This is a time of getting things done, lots of energy and momentum forward, moving the needle, and tapping into that burning desire that drives your business forward. 🔥
Which is SO SO needed to get results and grow.
And then there are seasons of pull. These are times you go inward to do some of the inner work that’s required as you grow. You may crave more quiet time to write and journal about what’s next for you/your business. You may book fewer meetings and put your focus inward vs on external outcomes.
This is also a time you may find yourself with more questions than answers - which can feel really edgy (myself included 😅)
This time is essential as well because it allows you space to harness your energy and connect with your vision for what you want to create.
I’m very much in the season of pulling back and creating more space for myself these days. So I’ve been honoring that and surrendering to this place, knowing it will serve my growth AND will probably be the thing that creates my next major jump in growth, revenue + impact across the board.
So for now, you’ll find me baking banana bread at 2pm, curling up with a book and cup of tea in the evenings, and prioritizing the time/space to go inward so I can create what’s next. ✨
I would love to know what season you’re in right now, so please reply here or send me a DM to share!
I also just recorded a mini episode all about this topic that’ll be released on the podcast in the next few weeks, so if this resonates make sure you’re subscribed to The Bossbabe Podcast to listen when it comes out. 🙂
💸 BUSINESS NEEDLE MOVERS
I know if you’re reading this you probably want to start, grow, or scale your business… so here are a few tactical pieces that I’m seeing move the needle BTS for bossbabe + with clients right now.
1) The first is having really clear communication on your vision for something. This could mean the vision (or North Star) of your business – why does it exist, who do you serve, what problems do you solve, how are you unique + different in your approach? etc. Or it could be clarity on the outcomes or goals of a project you’re working on internally.
Having clear communication around your vision, expectations, and outcomes is such a critical piece in setting yourself + everyone around you up for success.
If you have a team that works with you (even if it’s just one other person like a VA) a great question you can ask is: “Are there any other details you may need to take the next steps and get this over the finish line?”
This is also an opportunity to bring in some amazing systems around communication to keep things clear, streamlined, and efficient.
Decide where you want communication to happen and at what stages - for example: maybe you have launch calls over Zoom, tasks in Asana, clarifying questions in Slack, and final approvals via Loom.
⬆️ Make sure your systems and processes make the communication flow as simple as possible. When you have these pieces in place it makes executing your vision SO much easier + will move the needle faster in the process.
2) Next is removing yourself as the bottleneck. An old story I want you to let go of is that “If I don’t do it, no one else can/will.” This is a recipe for burnout because it doesn’t create space for people to come in and support you.
It’s true: you’ll need to onboard people and train them on proven systems/processes that you know work - that part is really important and cannot be skipped…
But remember, to build a freedom-based business - one that allows you to elevate your role and focus on the pieces that truly light you up - you’ll need a team around you (even if it’s just one or two other people) to help you get there.
So if you’re finding yourself getting pulled into every little decision, attending all the meetings, gut-checking each piece, and feeling exhausted in the process - this one is for you. It’s simply NOT sustainable and won’t give you the freedom/flexibility you’re looking for.
Instead, I want you to grab a piece of paper and write down your answers to these questions:
What areas can I step back and delegate more?
What are the things only I can do + want to do in my business?
Where could I use more support on a daily/weekly basis?
Where have I become the bottleneck in getting things done?
⬆️ Keep asking yourself these questions over the next few weeks and start to notice any trends.
Maybe you find you really aren’t needed on the weekly team call OR you could delegate all calendar booking to someone else on your team OR you really love doing content creation but you’re so busy with other things that you never get to it.
When you can remove yourself as the bottleneck and ask “Who can help me” - you’ll find things will probably get done more efficiently and with less stress on your time/energy.
3) Lastly, you can hire one A-player instead of 3 B-players and get the same results! Most businesses need to build a team as they grow/ scale to reach their next level of success. There’s SOOOO much that comes with this piece because now we start to get into management, leadership, systems, HR, all the things - but one of the most important pieces I’ve found is around attracting A-players to join you.
I’ve hired a lot of people over the years and the trend I’ve found is that when you can bring in an A-player and you set that person up for success, it will massively move the needle in your business.
The thing is, A-players want to have a strong team around them who are also going above and beyond, doing their work with excellence, showing up with a team mentality - all those things… so it’s really important that you fill your team with these types of team players.
Investing in an A-player often means you’ll not need to hire other roles because this person can own a piece of the business at such a high level… so even though it feels like a bigger investment, the return is SO high.
Some of what’s above will resonate with your business now and others may be down the line, but I want you to start to take notice of what is moving the needle in your business and then do more of that.
It can be so easy to get distracted with ALL the things, trying to do everything you see online… but when you double down on the things that actually work, you will create results WAY faster and with more ease.
☕️ LINKS + RECOMMENDATIONS
Lastly, I always want this newsletter to be a place where you can get access to the things that will help you not just build your business but also live your most incredible life…
So, here are a few of the things I’ve been loving lately that I think you will too. ⬇️
For: Health/ Wellness
I’ve been obsessed with Glōci, so much that I’m now one of the co-founders! 😍 It’s a skin routine you can drink, and we all know that skin health starts within - not all the products we use on the outside. It’s packed with hydrating ingredients, plus is great for your gut and digestion.
I’ve been enjoying two a day - one first thing in the morning with a hydrogen tab, and one in the afternoon with some liquid b vitamins added in. Elixir heaven. You can use the code “bossbabe” to get an amazing discount on your order!
For: Product-Based Business Owners
I had an incredible conversation with Jacqueline Snyder from The Product Boss on the podcast on the specific marketing/sales strategies for product-based businesses.
I get SO many questions on product-based businesses (especially from our Société members!), so this episode is such a great resource to help you take your business to the next level and know where to focus if you’re in a growth season.
For: All The Entrepreneurs
Ofc, I love to share Kajabi because it’s made such a big impact on the way we run our business. Having everything on one platform has created SO much ease for my team. There’s no more stress and complexity when it comes to our tech - it’s straightforward, seamless, and easy to use - which we love!
I’ll drop our link here so you can get 30 days free to try it out.
I hope this was so helpful for you and will set the tone for a truly amazing week.
I’m always really curious to get your feedback on these emails. So if there’s anything you’d like to share, you can reply to this directly. 🤍
