how to balance it all

Hey ,
The summer vacation continues — I’m currently writing you this from California where Stephen and I are on a retreat together.
As I’ve been sharing my travels again this summer on social media, I’ve noticed quite a few people asking me the same thing:
“How are you balancing it all?”
“Between the different homes, constant travel, Bossbabe, Glōci, personal brand and mom life…”
(Well, when you put it like that… 😅)
So - I thought I’d dedicate this email to exactly that.
First: I want to share, my life is NOT perfect and I truly never want it to seem that way. Just like yours, it’s filled with many ups and downs, and not all of that makes it to social media.
AND - right now, it’s feeling pretty great and in flow. I mean, thank f*** because April and May got really rocky with a lot of family health issues.
So, let’s get into it.
Finding Balance is Realizing There Isn’t Any
Listen, something’s always gotta give. You cannot give 100% to absolutely everything, all the time. You have to know what your priorities are and give the most energy to those.
For me right now, I’m saying no to almost every opportunity that hits my desk, because my plate is as full as I’d like and I don’t have the space to hold more and feel good about it.
Before I became a mum, I found it easy to say yes to everything - now, my priorities are just different and therefore what I say yes to reflects that. My career is probably moving a little slower, but I’m happier and more fulfilled than ever, so that feels like a win to me.Being Present Where Your Feet Are
The most common reason you feel guilty? Because you’re telling yourself that you should be doing something other than what you’re currently doing.
If you’re playing with your kids, thinking about your to-do list… you probably feel behind. If you’re ticking off your to-do list, wishing you were with your kids… you probably feel guilty.
But if you can really allow yourself to be present where your feet are, knowing that everything else can wait, your nervous system will thank you for it.Support, Support… And More Support
You may have heard me share on the podcast that we haven’t really had any childcare support for the last few months and wondering how on earth I’m building my businesses during naptime…
But support comes in so many forms. I have SUCH rock solid teams in place in the business that I can be elsewhere, knowing that it is being handled and driven forward.
Hiring well: really talented team members who truly care, is absolutely invaluable. Take your time finding the right people, pay them well and make sure they are able to reach their goals working with you.
Whether it’s in your business or personal life, having support is essential. We cannot do it all. If you can’t afford support right now, maybe you can even time-swap with a friend. There are so many ways to get resourceful, but trust me, you’re going to need help if you’re already struggling to juggle it all.Knowing When Enough is Enough
We hit our financial goal in the business by May this year (🤯) and this was a huge reminder for me to know when enough is enough. That was the goal, and it was more than enough.
So, we cut our working week down to 4 days, and stepped back to optimize the systems in the business instead.
Of course we’re still driving for more revenue, but since I already feel like we have done more than enough in terms of our goals, we are doing it in a way that gets to be fun. How can it be creative? How can we enjoy ourselves more? How can we impact more people?
When you know what enough means to you, it takes the weight off your shoulders and everything else becomes a bonus.Stack Your Days
I have 2 days per week where I schedule my calls, and other than that, my days are kept completely empty and free.
That means the weight is taken off if I have a lot going on personally, or it means that I can actually get my work done if there are projects on my plate.
I found that having meetings almost every day, even if it was just a couple, reduced my flexibility and freedom so much. Now I stack my days, completely reduce context switching, and make sure I have enough open space every week to focus on what’s important that week.Remember, You’re Not a Brain Surgeon
I remember 10 years ago when I was waiting tables, and one day I had an absolute meltdown. Between rude customers, a crazy busy restaurant, and spilling a tray of drinks… I ran into the staff office and burst into tears.
My manager came in and told me to pull myself together. I’ll never forget what she said to me:
“You’re not a brain surgeon. No-one is going to die if you make a mistake on the job. It’s really not that big a deal… you’re waiting tables.”
And that has stuck with me ever since. So often, when I feel stressed and overwhelmed, I remind myself that this is not surgery. No-one is going to get harmed if I slack on a deadline, take a couple of weeks off social media, postpone a launch or change my mind on something.
We need to remember WHY we became our own bosses in the first place…
And if we still don’t have any freedom and flexibility, that’s on us to make a change.

🎙 Speaking of mom guilt… I recently got to interview Maria Hatzistefanis, founder of Rodial, a 9 figure beauty brand. She was building her business from the very early days of having children, and now her kids are all grown up - I asked her if/how she thought that being so busy with her business affected her relationship with them, and the response brought me to tears.
🍋 I’ve been going strong on my daily Glōci habit and am really seeing a big difference in the health of my skin. It’s consistently clear no matter time of the month, and genuinely feels so much more hydrated - my friends are saying the same. Use code BOSSBABE for a big discount if you want to try!
